If you’re coming to the South West for your family holiday, you won’t want to miss some of the best pubs in Cornwall.
Whether you’re looking for a family-friendly pub with a beer garden, or a modern and stylish bar, we’ve got you covered with our ultimate guide.
7 of the best pubs in Cornwall
7 The Chy Bar, Newquay
Newquay is one of Cornwall’s best known towns, with its many beaches and stunning coastal scenery. Plus it’s only ten minutes from the holiday park, so it’s no surprise that quite a few of our favourite pubs are here.
The Chy Bar is right on the waterfront, overlooking the beautiful Towan Beach. During the day it serves a casual menu, including stone-baked pizzas, great burgers and local fish specials. You may also like to simply enjoy a pint on the balcony while watching the world go by.
But it’s in the evening when the place really comes alive – expect DJs, live music, dancing and extra special cocktails from 10pm til 4am.
6 First & Last Inn, Penzance
Tucked away in the most westerly village in mainland Britain, the First & Last Inn at Sennen offers a rural escape. Its beer garden and children’s play area make it a magnet for families, while its menu is a hit with foodies.
Just be sure to leave plenty of time to get there (and back) as it’s about as far West as you can get without driving into the sea so you’ll want to make the most of it….
5 Pandora Inn, Falmouth
One of the oldest pubs in Cornwall, the Pandora Inn has been welcoming smugglers and wreckers since the 13th Century. With its flagstone floors, thatched roof and low-beamed ceilings, it’s easy to forget you’re in the 21st Century.
Don’t expect to be able to get 3G on your phone, but be sure of a warm welcome, far-reaching views across Restronguet Creek and mouth-watering food and drink, sourced and prepared locally.
4 The Fort Inn, Newquay
This is one for the family – its free indoor soft play area will keep the kids entertained for hours while you enjoy a leisurely meal or a few drinks.
The views from the pub across Towan Beach in Newquay will stay with you long after you’ve travelled home. The decor is modern and contemporary, while the drinks and food are varied and of good quality.
3 The Old Inn, Mullion
Another historic pub, the Old Inn has been welcoming travellers since the 16th Century. Its thatched roof and traditional interior provides a cosy setting for enjoying a few drinks with friends. Four-legged friends are also made to feel right at home so bring Pooch along too.
The pub is located on the Lizard Peninsula in Cornwall, the most southerly point of mainland Britain, so make time to explore the nearby walks and beaches too.
2 Rashleigh Inn, Polkerris
Just a few metres from the beach, and nestled in the tiny haven of Polkerris near Fowey, the Rashleigh Inn is about as Cornish as it gets.
There are the golden sands and rock pools of the small beach right outside, along with traditional Cornish ales, local fish dishes and freshly prepared cream teas on the menu.
1 Lewinnick Lodge, Newquay
Just ten minutes from Monkey Tree Holiday Park, Lewinnick Lodge is a real gem. With 360 degree views of the Atlantic Ocean, ample outdoor seating to take in the sights, and award winning food and drink, you’ll want to add it to your to-do list.
The contemporary interior of the restaurant area is ideal to enjoy memorable family lunches, while the bar area with its open fire, comfy sofas and pool table make it hard to leave.
