The locals refer to this day as 'Obby 'Oss day'. The legend of the 'Obby 'Oss are numerous and date back to the Pagan times to celebrate the coming summer.The streets are all decorated with flowers and flags as well as a maypole and features a procession through the town singing the traditional May song.
